A Study of Flow Cytometric Nuclear DNA Content in Lung Cancer: The Incidence of DNA Aneuploidy and Its Prognostic Implications
نویسندگان
چکیده
Flow cytometric nuclear DNA content (DNA ploidy) was measured in paraffin-embedded surgical specimens of 87 patients with primary lung cancer. Of the 87 tumor tissues, 17 (19.5%) showed a normal DNA stemline (DNA diploidy), and 70 (80.5%) an abnormal DNA stemline (DNA aneuploidy). Patients with DNA aneuploid tumors had significantly shorter survival times than those with DNA diploid tumors (p < 0.001). This study confirmed the high incidence of DNA aneuploidy as well as its prognostic implication in primary lung cancer patients. DNA aneuploidy seems to be a useful parameter for evaluating the degree of lung cancer malignancy.

Flow cytometric DNA analysis of gastric cancer--correlation with histology and clinical outcome.
Nuclear DNA content was analysed by means of flow cytometric measurements in 103 patients with gastric carcinomas, using paraffin-embedded archival tissue. DNA aneuploidy was found in 40 cases (38.8%). The mean DNA index of aneuploid tumors was 1.45(range 1.13 to 2.37). No significant association between ploidy and either age, sex, tumor location, size, stage, growth pattern, or histologic type...
متن کاملNUCL EAR DNA CONTENT AND DNA PLOIDY ANALYSIS IN BREAST CANCER
To investigate the patterns of DNA ploidy and proliferating activity in breast cancer and relate them to other prognostic factors, paraffin blocks of 53 cases of breast carcinoma were studied. Cancer cells obtained by mechanical tissue disaggregation were examined for DNA content, ploidy and S-phase fraction. DNA assay was done using a CAS interactive image analyzing system. All of the cas...
متن کاملPrognostic value of flow-cytometric DNA analysis in breast cancer
The most important factor influencing prognosis in breast cancer is its biological aggressiveness, generally expressed by parameters such as tumor size, number of metastatized lymph nodes, histological grade and receptors status. In recent years, the proliferative rate of tumors has been widely investigated in an attempt to define additional prognostic factors. New factors have thus been propos...

Flow cytometric quantitation of the proliferation-associated nuclear antigen p105 was done on cancer cell suspensions from 114 advanced gastric cancers and correlated with clinical behavior. DNA diploidy was observed in 45 (39.5%) and aneuploidy in 69 (60.5%) cases. By setting the cutoff line at the level used in a negative control study without primary antibody in the same sample, the p105-lab...

Transitional cell carcinoma(T.C.C) of bladder display an upredictable biological behavior.Morphologic methods of grading this tumor are insuficient to predict the clinical outcome of the patients.the aim of this study was to investigate the relationships between histological grading staging and DAN ploidy especially in intermediate grade II(IIa and IIb). in a retrospective study of tissue spec...
